We had a great Christmas this year. We got to spend a lot of time with family and most importantly we had a lot of relaxation time. I was able to get the last 2 week of December off this year and so we made the best of it. We started out our trip by going to Boise to have a family party with Adam's side of the family. The weather was a challenge though. The road conditions were horrible so we just took it slow. We spent 3 days hanging out and catching up with everyone. Then of course the kids traded gifts with each other. The twins ended up with the boy version of the Easy Bake Oven. Lets just say we now have an abundance of rubber bugs that the boys got to create with their new bug oven. I thought it was pretty cool but the smell was not as appitizing as a warm cookie. There's nothing like the smell of burnt rubber to hang in the air for hours. The boys loved it.
Then we headed out for the other side of the state of Idaho. The 4 1/2 hour drive turned into about 6 1/2 hours because again the roads were still horrible. I don't think I have ever seen an Interstate Highway with so many cars and semi trucks off the road in the gutter. Between the wind blowing literally 100 mph and the black ice I couldn't sleep a wink. Usually when I get in the passenger seat of the car my eyes automaticlly shut but there was no way that was happening this time. I was a nervous wreck. We finally made it to my parents house and that's were we stayed until after Christmas. It was a good thing that we weren't going back home because the road was closed anyway. All the boys got to play on the snowmobile and turn into popsicles. Ash and Thomas came up and stayed several days and had a great time too. By the time we had to head for home since Adam had to go back to work the roads weren't too bad. We made it home safe and sound and in good time. The boys and I still had another week until we had to get back to reality so we took advantage and had as much fun as possible.
